TEAM GENERAL MEETING

TUESDAY JULY 23, 2002

ARIZONA ROOM

UNIVERSITY PLAZA TRADE CENTER

 

Rick Carleton called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm.

 

Break out sessions for district meetings

 

We approved the agenda with no corrections

 

No secretary report was given because last summers’ minutes were not available.

 

Mark Arnold gave the treasurers report consisting of a financial statement and an annual budget:

            --checking account balance $5,660.39

            --scholarship account balance $3,258.26

            --operating fund reserve $5,414.66

            --TEAM membership 363

            --balanced proposed budget of $15,475 receipts and expenses

Walt Pollard made the motion to accept the treasurers report, Paul Thornhall 2nd, and they were approved. 

 

Gary Duncan gave the ITEA report stating:

--the next national convention is in Nashville in March 2003

--20 local members went to Ohio for the 2002 convention

 

Joe Burke gave the ACTE report:

--stated he would fill in as TEAM rep until a replacement is found

 

Jerry Foerschler gave the MO. ACTE report stating:

--the last meeting on April,12, 2002 -- made up of primarily budget talks

 

Doug Miller gave the DESE report including:

--we have the worst supervisor to teacher ratio at 1 : 848 of all the vocational / technical areas at DESE, all others are better than 1 : 300, Doug asked for help in this area

--Doug discussed the six areas of focus in his job:

            --improve communication

            --teacher recruitment

            --improved image / status of TE

            --increase professional development / inservices

            --develop leadership activities / training

            --program initiatives

 

 

Steve McNaught gave the past presidents report

--setting up TE for state standards

 

Dr Micheal Wright spoke

--ITEA is busy lobbying for TE funds and in planning for the ITEA national

  conference in KC in 2005

--CMSU—has career planning for TE

--no more 2 year degrees

--increased 4 year degree programs

--TE is growing through budget cuts

--curriculum guides available soon on cd rom

 

Ben Yates announced :

The Air Force technology teacher of the year for 2002-03 is Dr. Yusuf Al-Hassan

 

Steve McNaught gave a publications report:

--we will change from 3 to 2 newsletters per year -- still have spring and fall

--drop summer newsletter and replace it with a TEAM summer conference agenda and a

   letter from the president urging people to attend

--this will cut costs of printing and postage

 

John Petsch gave a report on awards program/expo/state contest:

n      state expo/contest was on 4/26/02

n      --we are hoping for 4/26 Jefferson City HS for contest next year

 

Carter Fawkes gave the home page report:

--Carter said it is www.moteam.org

 

Rick Carleton took nominations for TEAM officers:

            --Walt Pollard nominated Mark Arnold for treasurer, 2nd by Steve McNaught and he was elected by acclimation

            --Ted Wilkerson was nominated by Dan Buesekus for president elect

            --Walt Pollard made the motion to elect Ted Wilkerson to president elect, 2nd by Floyd Lockheart and it passed

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Don Bradshaw conducted the installation ceremony for :

            --Jerry Foeschler—president

            --Ted Wilkerson—president elect

            --Mark Arnold—treasurer

 

Ben Yates introduced Dr. Kyle Palmer as graphics chair at CMSU

 

Dr. Micheal Wright reported that Jerry Foerschler is running for ITEA board of directors—region 3

Jerry Foerschler asked for volunteers for TEAM committees:

 

Summer conference:  Steve McNaught – chair, Ben Yates, Loren Hall, Yusuf Al-Hassan, Martha Rudnick, and Wayman King.

 

EXPO rules:  John Petsch – chair, Jim Milburn, Kent Hannah, Robin Hylick, Kimberly Stone, and Richard Crawford.

 

Bi-law committee:  Keith Stayton – chair, Jan Sommerville, Gary Duncan, Rick Gwinn, Don Bradshaw, and Mark Koca

 

PAC money was collected by passing the hat.

 

Jerry Foerschler made the following announcements:

--dinner at Willard community center—maps available

--sign up for golf outing with Steve McNaught

--parking permit needed for Wednesday ($2.00)
