Greetings SW District TEAM!
Here are some important activities available to you through TEAM.
Career Exploration Course-B Workshops
This workshop series introduces teachers to a new exploratory semester course
for students in the eighth or ninth grades. This second workshop series
will introduce three new Career Cluster modules to the Exploring Career
Clusters course materials, and it will provide information about the structure
and design of the Exploring Career Clusters career exploration courses.
The workshop should be valuable both to teachers new to the Exploring Career
Clusters course, and to those who attended last year's workshops but would
like information on the three new cluster modules.
Exploring Career Clusters is a one-semester course that introduce students,
through authentic hands-on experiences (activities/projects), to occupations
in selected career clusters. The workshop will cover modules to introduce
students to careers in the following three Career Clusters:
Arts, A/V Technology & Communications;
Information Technology; and
Transportation, Distribution & Logistics.
Existing materials are available for the following Career Clusters: Architecture & Construction;
Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics; and Manufacturing.
The first session of the workshop will introduce teachers and counselors
to the curriculum, covering the rationale for the course, Career Clusters
concept, and the methodology for teaching the course. There will also be
a detailed review of course organization, materials, instructional aids,
student handouts, and assignments. The following session will provide hands-on
practice while guiding teachers through some of the activities in the program,
with guidance on implementing the Career Clusters concept.
Each workshop consists of two sessions. The workshop is being offered to
you at no cost. You are responsible for your travel expenses. Lunch will
be provided at each session.
